Brodhead Water and Light was founded on May 1, 1913 by the citizens of Brodhead to encourage the city's development. While a lot has changed over the past century, the focus of the utility has not. Today, we still offer our customers some of the lowest electric rates in the area - rates significantly lower than those in territories that are served by most investor-owned utilities. And, since we live and work in the community, we provide reliable energy with superior customer service.
Brodhead Water and Light is a locally owned and operated electric and water utility, serving more than 1,856 customers in Brodhead Wisconsin. We strive to provide low-cost, reliable service with a community-focused, personal touch. We are your friends and neighbors who share your values and understand your needs.
Public power systems like Brodhead Water and Light are non-profit and have one main purpose - to provide customers with the best service at the lowest possible cost.
We are proud to be a member-owner of Wisconsin Public Power Inc (WPPI), a regional power company serving 51 customer-owned electric utilities. Through WPPI, these public power utilities share resources and own generation facilities to provide reliable, affordable electricity to more that 195,000 homes and businesses in Wisconsin, Upper Michigan and Iowa.
We also provide our customers with clean, high-quality water that meets or exceeds all state and federal standards. Our water quality and capacity are monitored every day by well-trained system operators.
